Signs of deep failure
A pothole that keeps reopening after rain is usually a sign the base has gone soft. Watch for edges that are crumbling back or low spots where water sits after a storm. If a delivery vehicle parks in the same spot and the surface deflects under the load, the damage runs deeper than an inch or two.
The patching process and equipment
Full-depth patching means cutting out the failed section down to the subgrade, addressing any erosion or voids, recompacting or replacing the base material, then building back up with fresh material from our hot-mix asphalt haul truck. We use an asphalt paver with a screed to place the mat at the required width, grade, cross-slope, and thickness. We then roll the hot mat in breakdown, intermediate, and finish passes while the mix remains compactable.

Protecting the repair
Once the patch cures, protecting the surface extends its life. We apply asphalt sealcoating for $1 to $2 per square foot. This seals the new joints and protects the surrounding older pavement from water intrusion.
Dalton rainfall and drainage
Dalton receives around 50 inches of rain in a typical year. Periodic heavy-rain events test drainage and grading, so a driveway plan should account for moving runoff away from the pavement. A portion of the land around Prater’s Mill on Coahulla Creek is mapped as a special flood-hazard area. We check flood exposure before changing grades or drainage there to ensure the new base won't wash out.

We Do the Work
Our crew does the work, checks it, and leaves the site clean. You see everything we did.
What this typically involves:
- For a full-depth patch, saw-cut and remove failed pavement to firm support, prime the patch bottom and sides, place hot-mix asphalt, and compact it flush with the adjoining surface.
- Before sealcoating, clean the pavement and repair cracks; mix the sealer and apply coats, allowing the first coat to dry before applying the next.
What It Typically Costs
