The crack sealing process
To properly seal a crack, we first route or saw it where appropriate to create a clean channel. We clean and dry the void completely. Once dry, we apply the sealant and finish or shape the material to match the surrounding pavement. For larger surface applications, we use a pressure distributor with a spray bar to apply material evenly.
Full-depth patching for failed areas
When freeze-thaw movement has compromised the pavement beyond a simple surface crack, we move to a full-depth patch. We saw-cut and remove the failed pavement down to firm support. We then prime the patch bottom and sides, place hot-mix asphalt, and compact it flush with the adjoining surface. If we are bringing in large volumes of hot-mix for extensive patching, we use a material transfer vehicle to handle the asphalt.

Right-of-way work and new installations
If a Dalton driveway job involves excavation in a public street, sidewalk, or alley, we file a written permit application first. Driveway pavement in the street right-of-way requires a graded aggregate base under plant-mix asphalt. All our work complies with the 2024 International Residential Code with Georgia amendments. If the damage requires a completely new asphalt driveway installation, pricing runs $7 to $13 per square foot.
