Paving and Compaction Process
We place the asphalt mixture with a paver at a uniform speed to maintain a consistent mat thickness across the entire job. As soon as the material is down, we begin breakdown rolling close behind the paver while the mat is still hot. From there, we move immediately into intermediate compaction and finish rolling to lock the aggregate in place before it cools.
Managing East Ridge Drainage
Low-lying areas along Spring Creek and West Chickamauga Creek near I-75 flood during unusually heavy rain. A short, intense storm in 2025 caused flash flooding across East Ridge and Hamilton County, pushing Spring Creek well above its banks. Because local weather patterns include substantial annual rainfall and regular winter freezes, we factor site elevation and drainage into every paving plan. If water pools on your asphalt, winter freezes will tear it apart.
Hot-Patch Repairs
For isolated pavement failures, we cut out the damaged sections and install hot-patch repairs, which run $2 to $5 per square foot. We remove the failed material, dry and heat the edges with a hot-air lance, and install fresh hot-mix asphalt. We then compact it flush with the surrounding surface to stop water from undermining the rest of your driveway or lot.
Scheduling Around the Weather
We operate out of Dalton and schedule East Ridge jobs around suitable weather windows. Asphalt requires specific temperatures to compact properly. Because this region gets regular winter freezes and heavy rain, we monitor the forecast closely. We won't lay asphalt if the ground is frozen or if heavy rain is moving in, ensuring the material cures correctly.
